Writing is the primary basis upon which your work, your learning, and your intellect will be judged—in school and in the community. Our focus in teaching writing is to arm our students with the tools necessary to communicate effectively in the English language through the use of the writing process, proper grammar and age-appropriate vocabulary. Skills to focus on will include correct spelling patterns, use of vocabulary, correct use of parts of speech, logical word order, and variety of writing styles.
Writing Prompts
Once a week the teacher will put out a question/writing prompt on the blog with the purpose of having students practice their writing skills in English. Parents who want an active role may do so by encouraging the use of a dictionary for translation and spelling and explaining grammatical errors. It is the child’s responsibility to respond to the writing prompt with their own thoughts.
BANGO
This is a fictional writing game where students choose 5 different elements to create a short story. You continue to create stories until you fill the BANGO table.
