Syllabus

Course Description: Our English Program aims to develop students that are able to effectively communicate in a bilingual society.  To achieve this purpose the program will present English Language Learning with varied, dynamic and interactive activities that are organized in 4 language strands (oral communication, written communication, reading comprehension and literary appreciation). These strands involve expectations and similar skills that develop and expand over time.

General Objectives:      In order to provide continuity of second language acquisition across grade levels, the program establishes general goals of what our students should know and should be able to do as they acquire concepts and skills enumerated under each of the language strands.  These goals are as follows:

  • Students will recognize the importance of being able to communicate in the English language.
  • Students will be able to sustain everyday conversations effectively in the English language.
  • Students will be able to read and write effectively in the English language.
  • Students will enhance their bilingual public speaking skills.
  • Students will establish a life-long love for reading English language literature.

Evaluation Method: (subject to change at the teacher’s discretion) At the end of each trimester, students will have accumulated points from tests, projects, class participation such as daily exercises, quizzes, homework, and show and tells.
