Learning a second language is not an easy process. This is why we balance classroom instruction with dynamic and interactive activities. Classroom activities are intended to engage the student in self-exploration and learning by doing.

English Week – Students of all grades celebrated English week with games competitions and fun!!!

Dragon Parade - After reading The Last Dragon by Susan Miho Nunes, the sixth grade students prepare and participate in our annual Chinese New Years Parade.

Pop-Up Books - Our students demonstrate what they learned about settings through the creation of a pop-up book.

Timelines – Learning how timelines work is easier when you’re an expert on the subject, so what better subject? Me, myself and I!!!

Pourquoi Lapbooks – These lapbooks were made to help the students identify the elements of a pourquoi tale.

Word Webs – In order to get a better understanding of vocabualry words students created word webs in cooperative learning.

Vejigante Project - 7th Monarca is learning about customs and traditions for our Puerto Rican Week Project (Vejigantes: Creatures of Culture).  We read about types of vejigantes in Puerto Rico. The class was divided into three groups. Each group will add on features to their base structure that represent vejigantes of either Ponce, Loiza or Hatillo. When the characters were done we created a setting on our classroom door.
