English Program Goals
Our English Program aims to develop students who are able to effectively communicate in a bilingual society. While the specific expectations for what students study at different grade levels vary, all students will study common content organized in 4 language strands (oral communication, reading comprehension and literary appreciation).
In order to provide continuity of second language acquisition across grade levels, the program establishes general goals of what our students should know and should be able to do.
These goals are as follows:
- Students will recognize the importance of being able to communicate in both the English and Spanish languages.
- Students will be able to sustain everyday conversations effectively in the English language.
- Students will be able to read and write effectively in the English language.
- Students will enhance their bilingual public speaking skills.
- Students will establish a life-long love for reading English language literature.
